Gold Exchange Pretoria buys all gold jewellery — rings, chains, bracelets, earrings and pendants — in every karat from 9ct to 24ct, and in any condition. Whether it's a single broken chain or a full jewellery box you've inherited, you get a free valuation and instant payment, with no obligation to sell.
What gold jewellery we buy
- Rings — including wedding bands, engagement and dress rings
- Necklaces, chains and pendants
- Bracelets and bangles
- Earrings — including single or odd earrings
- Broken, tangled or damaged pieces
- Gold watches (valued by weight where not a collectible brand)
- Dental gold and gold fragments
Any karat is welcome: 9ct, 14ct, 18ct, 22ct and 24ct. Not sure what you have? Send us a photo and we'll tell you.
How we price your gold jewellery
Your payout is based on three things: the weight of the gold, its purity (karat), and the current gold price, which moves daily. We test purity and weigh every piece on a calibrated scale in front of you — nothing happens out of sight. At our Menlyn Maine office we confirm exact purity with a professional Thermo Scientific XRF (X-ray) analyser. Higher-karat gold contains more pure gold, so it pays more per gram. Any diamonds or gemstones can be removed and returned to you, or valued separately.
Quick karat guide
- 9ct — 37.5% pure gold (often stamped 375)
- 14ct — 58.5% (585)
- 18ct — 75% (750)
- 22ct — 91.6% (916)
- 24ct — 99.9% (999)
Not sure how to find or read the stamp on your piece? Our gold karats & hallmarks guide shows you where to look and what each mark means.
How it works
- WhatsApp a photo of your jewellery — we send a personalised estimate, usually within 30 minutes.
- We come to you anywhere in Gauteng, or you visit our Menlyn Maine office by appointment.
- We test and weigh everything in front of you and make a firm offer.
- You get paid on the spot — cash or instant EFT. If you're not happy, you simply keep your gold.
Don't scrap sentimental or broken pieces before a valuation. Even damaged jewellery is worth its full gold value by weight — many clients are surprised how much a drawer of old gold is worth.
